Have you ever been exploring?
This is one of my favorite small channels.
My kids and I hiked several mountain trails, just to explore places and collect flora & fauna. Having a Foster mom that was a witchy person, helped. They can identify edible plants and know how to live off the land, if it ever comes to that.
Kayaking was one of our favorite activities. I often had to pack 5-6 kayaks, in a trailer that pulled behind our van. Some seated two, others seated one. I usually rode in a row boat. To row yourself out to the middle of the lake, throw a line in the water and read a good book under the shade of a handheld umbrella. Priceless.
Those were the days! All the kids exploring their own parts of the lake. Sometimes they pulled up to the shore and got out to explore further. They knew better than to say "look at me" or "Can I ... ?" I would ignore the shit out of them.
They wanted freedom, I gave them small amounts of freedom. No finds from exploring could come in the house. { we once had a fish tank full of tadpoles & 3 weeks later, we had a house full of frogs! Live & Learn.}
The kids often found cool glass bottles, cool rocks, and so much more! When it came time to move out of the farmhouse... the kids all had to look through their long since finds from exploring. I gave them a choice, Put the rocks back in nature or take them with. No leaving anything behind.
We spent 2 years living in tents, on our property. Sometimes sleeping in the loft of the barn, where I had updated the room to accomodate 10 single beds and had a full bathroom and a full kitchen area, along with a small living room that was often mistaken for part of the kitchen because it could only house 2 loveseats and a few end tables where we had lamps.
and that's another story.
Life is what you make it.
It's never easy.
Make the best out of the time you have here on earth!
You never know how fast death can happen.
You can literally blink your eye and this life will be over,
